Hemp most probably originates from Central Asia, yet can be grown in all ecosystems. It is an incredibly hardy plant that requires no pesticides regularly used on other crops. All parts of the hemp plant can be used to make rope, textile, construction materials and oil, whilst its seed is considered a superfood. The protein powder made from hempseed contains all the nutrients found in the plant’s seed in its natural form. Hemp seed proteinis a non-isolate powder.
Significance, effects: Hemp seed protein is a high quality protein containing all nine essential amino acids, as well as fiber, healthy fatty acids and minerals. It contains easy to digest protein that the body can rapidly absorb and utilize as building blocks for our own protein to facilitate muscle growth, amongst other things. This isn’t merely important for exercise, body-building and mass gain purposes as muscles performing grueling physical labor also require a supply of good quality protein and this is also an important consider in the case of malnutrition. There are numerous proven benefits of diets rich in fiber and hemp seed protein can contribute to daily fiber intake. The reason for this is that hemp protein contains an ideal amount and ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids.
Use:
Hemp seed protein has a greenish-yellowish color and slightly “earthy” taste. As it is less processed that other protein powders, it might look odd at first, yet one can quickly grow accustomed and fond of it. It is most easily used in smoothies or shakes or mixed in liquids. The recommended daily allowance is 2 tablespoons.
